Still exceeding expectations

The crossing at Au worked well as from Schlogen on the other side we continued through country that can be described by words including ‘idyllic’ and ‘sublime’ and we found a great Gasthof for morning coffee where the owner, who had a colorful image of ‘the Schlogen Bend’ on his piano accordion, played Austrian music while we caffeinated. (see photo).

It was a long weekend in Austria so our cycle through to Aschach for lunch included passing by lots of camping people, fishing people, walking people, skateboarding people, and sitting people. Bas commented that it was like cycling through SBS. I thought it a cross between SBS and the Sound of Music. The weather was mostly warm, though hardly high summer, and at places in the forest it was worthy of jumpers and long pants.
